School History

An Introduction

Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy was introduced to the public with the distinction of being the only school of its kind in the state of Nevada focusing on preparing students for careers in Public Service. Our school carries a name, befitting the ultimate public servants. Since the founding of our nation, men and women have risked harm's way, sacrificing their lives and their fortunes, fighting for the very freedom enjoyed today by every United States citizen. These same men and women have left behind family and friends, to make foreign societies democratic in nature, providing basic needs, if not greater opportunity, for their citizens. Given the broad spectrum of their immense dedication, commitment and inspiration, it is only appropriate to pay tribute to our veterans; past, present, and future.

Under a sunny sky on August 24, 2009, 373 freshmen and sophomore students, LVMPD officers, LVMPD volunteers, Las Vegas City and County Fire officials, local politicians, CCSD administration and other local agencies celebrated the opening of a new school in the Clark County School District. After a flag waving ceremony during a LVMPD dual helicopter flyby, students and guests officially opened this new state of the art facility. A new school usually means the latest technology, equipment and design, but it also means the opportunity to set a new climate, culture and vision. It has taken many hands, heads and hearts to open the doors of Veterans Tribute CTA, but it will take continued care and commitment by the school, community and family to truly shape our future.

Veterans Tribute CTA consists of superior teachers and caring professionals that strive to assist students in any way to ensure academic success. Veterans Tribute CTA will maximize opportunities by building partnerships with LVMPD and other agencies that will offer students experiences that may give them a step up over other applicants for public service jobs, while still academically preparing them to apply to college, and creating broader ranges of options for their future. Having instructors in law enforcement, emergency medical response, dispatch careers, criminal justice field, crime scene analyst and cyber crimes will provide students with firsthand knowledge and training that cannot come from a book or video. We want our students fully prepared to make excellent choices for attending college and selecting future careers.

While just a small token of our appreciation our name, Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy will serve as a living testimonial for those who have served and continue to serve on behalf of our great country.
